Barry Charles Shotwell, 57, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his home.
Barry was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 9, 1955 to Ernest Everett and Mary Helen (Eads) Shotwell who preceded him in death. Barry attended Purdue University and went on to serve in the United States Army for 6 years in the 1st Cavalry Division. Barry loved his country, was a proud veteran and an absolute patriot. He worked as a Union Electrician for JE Shekell since 2007. Barry was active in the Evansville RC Club, local HAM Radio and he loved aviation. He will be remembered as a loving and generous brother, uncle and friend.
Barry is survived by his dogs, Buddy and Princess; sisters, Teresa (Jim) Mitchell of Evansville, IN, Susanne (Mike) Duff of Owensville; brothers, Steve (Carolyn) Shotwell of Greencastle, IN and John (Darlene) Shotwell of Evansville, IN; nieces and nephews, Jason, Melissa, Nicholas, Stephanie, Drew, Joshua, Seth, Matthew, Jared, Lily, Isabella, Megan, Ashley, Amber, Corey, David and Robert.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Michael Shotwell; and by his beloved dog, Gaia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, November 16, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday.
