Billy R. Garrett, 84, of Boonville, went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2012.
Survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty, his sister Patty Whitwell, sister-in-law Phyllis Garrett, his children Johnny R. (Sue); Billie S.Lindsay (Kern), Joyce L. Cundiff (Rick); grandchildren Matt, Billy, Tim, Melissa, Rhonda, Emily, Angela, and Lindsay and 25 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by son-Rick Garrett and grandson-Aaron Garrett, his parents-Edith Tompkins and Clarence Garrett, brother-Clarence Garrett, Jr.
He joined the Merchant Marines at age 17 and traveled all around the world. He retired from Peabody Coal Company after working many years as a construction superintendent. While living in Illinois, Bill was an active member of the Shriners of Randolph County., where he enjoyed being a Key Stone cop. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Boonville, the American Legion, and a volunteer of St. Mary's Warrick Hospital. He loved golfing, fishing, boating, water skiing, bowling, and was a great pool player. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Church.
The family would like to thank Asera Care Hospice of Newburgh for their wonderful devotion and care to Bill.
Service will be on Saturday, November 24th 2012 at 2p.m. at Koehler's funeral Home in Boonville, IN. Friends may visit Friday, from 4-8p.m. and Saturday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Asera Care.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with military rites by Warrick County Veterans Memorial Services.
Masonic Memorial service will be 7p.m. Friday.
