C. Duncan Cooke Sr.
C. Duncan Cooke Sr., 86, of Evansville, passed away at 4:35 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at River Pointe Health Campus.
Duncan was born July 20, 1927, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, the son of the late Rance and Katherine (Tinsley) Cooke. He was a 1945 graduate of Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee and was a veteran of the United States Navy
Reserves, serving during World War II
with the Seabees in Guam. Duncan was a lifetime member of VFW
Post #2714 in Ft. Branch, IN. He attended Evansville College and General Motors
Institute. Duncan retired from Cooke Chevrolet as Secretary/ Treasurer and sales manager. He had also worked for Pinkerton Security. Duncan was a member of Lessing Masonic Lodge #464 and of the Hadi Shrine where he transported children to the Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Duncan was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Howland) Cooke. of Evansville; daughters, Rancene Cooke, of Smyrna, GA, and Linda South Tatum, of Evansville; grandchildren, Chris Cooke, Kimber Wonder (Rodney), Keith Green, Whitney Green and Nikki Sandretto Cox, great-grandchildren, Savanah Elkin, Seth and Sloan Cox and Skylar Wonder; and cousin, Kevin Thompson (Janet), of Louisville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, C. Duncan Cooke Jr.; brother, John Cooke; great-granddaughter, Paityn Wonder; and cousin, Theda Mahurin.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5501 Washington Avenue, Evansville, with Reverend Dr. Dennis Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville where the Hadi Shrine will hold a Walk Through at 6:30 p.m. and Lessing Masonic Lodge #464 will hold a Memorial Service at 6:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
