Cathy Elbert Adams, 62, of Petersburg, Ind., passed away at Jasper Memorial Hospital on June 15, 2013, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Cathy was born July 8, 1950, in Washington, Indiana, to Dr. Joseph Wesley and Opal Doris Elbert. She married David Robert Adams on December 27, 1969, at the First United Methodist church in Petersburg, Ind. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1968, and Indiana University Bloomington in 1972. Cathy was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist church in Petersburg where she served as youth leader for many years United Methodist Women, Trustee, and other various church activities. She was actively involved with Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as regent of the Pike County Chapter. She was a Past member of Petersburg garden Club and Psi lota Xi.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Robert Adams; and her children, Christine (Brian) Waddell, Kyle (Mandy) Adams, and Laura (Jim) Grimes, Grandchildren Sydney and Sadie Waddell, Ella, Amelia and Wesley David Adams, and Landon James Grimes; and her brother, Joseph Wesley (Kathy) Elbert II.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Joseph Wesley and Opal Doris Elbert.
A Celebration of Cathy's life life will be held at the First United Methodist Church Petersburg June 18, 2013, noon EDT, 801 Walnut St. Petersburg. Ind., with Rev. Mel Camp officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery, Petersburg. Visitation will be Monday, June 17, 2013, from 2 till 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Friends may also visit from 9 a.m. till services on Tuesday. Please join the family on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Susan G. Koman Race in Evansville and walk in Cathy's honor and celebrate her life.
