Charles E. "Mike" Loeffler, 88, of Henderson, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Loeffler was born January 18, 1926 to the late John and Katherine (Schele) Loeffler in Evansville.
Mike retired from the Henderson County School System after 32 years of service. He was a life member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Evansville and a 1944 graduate of Reitz High School. Mike was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was also a member of VFW Post #1114 and a Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his companion of 14 years, Lucille Browder; and his sister, Alvina Loeffler.
Surviving are Lucille's children, Mary (Tom) Cartwright, of Corydon, Ky., Joe (Karen) Browder, Sandy Lindsey and Lola (Kenny) Garrett, all of Henderson, and Jason (Jaime) Browder, of Loogootee, Ind.; three daughters, Ronda (Stephen) Owens, Jennifer (Gary) Baumgart and Lesa (Mark) Raben, all of Evansville; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Pierre Funeral Home, continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. David Nunning officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
