Damon D. Stewart
Damon D. Stewart, 64, of Evansville, IN passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1950 in Carmi, IL to Hersity Stewart and Jeanette (Stewart) Benton.
Damon graduated from Bosse High School and served in the US Marine Corp
. He was trained as a rifleman and fought in the Vietnam War
. Damon received the Purple Heart
for the wound he sustained in combat in Vietnam on May 12, 1969. He also received the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran
. After his military service, Damon received an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Indiana Vocational Technical College. He was a member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by four sons: Antonio (Dana) Stewart of Kokomo IN, Brandon of Evansville IN, Jarrod of Manhattan NY, and Mark Butler of Evansville IN; seven grandchildren; his brothers: Charles (Mary) Stewart, Anthony "Tony" Stewart, and Jerome (Bonita) Stewart - all of Evansville; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services are Friday, August 1, 2014 at 1:00pm at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Rascoe, Sr. officiating. Visitation from 11:00am until service time. Entombment at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D. C. with full military honors. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel in charge.
