Darrel Cotton, 72, passed away, Friday January 4, 2013 at his home. He was born March 14, 1940 in Newtonville, IN to the late Carl W. and Virginia (Stevens) Cotton. He was a Navy Veteran and store room operator at Alcoa, where he retired after 31 years.
Darrel married Lois Maxine (Risse) on September 16, 1961. He was a member of American Legion Post #213. He enjoyed IU basketball, raising cattle, playing cards and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Lois Maxine (Risse) Cotton of Evanston, daughters, Sonia Bryant, Evanston, Valerie (Matt) Karpowicz, Evanston; sisters, Verlee Nelson, Tell City, Norma Beidenkopf, Newburgh; brother, Terry Cotton, Grandview; grandchildren, Jennifer Bryant, Brandon Karpowicz, Nick Bryant, Amanda Bryant, and Britteny Karpowicz. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl D. and Don Cotton; sisters, Jean Newton and Arlene Miller. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM CST Monday, January 7, 2013 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Pastor Ray Howard will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. American Legion Post 213 will conduct military service. Visitation will be Sunday 2-8PM and Monday 9AM to service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Troy Christian Scholarship Fund.
