George A. Deig
George Deig, age 87, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, November 08, 2012 at the Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center.
George was born February 16, 1925 in Evansville to the late George F. and Lydia (Espenlaub) Deig.
Mr. Deig had worked for and retired from Deig Brothers Construction. He was a life member of VFW
Post #1114 and a member of the Riverbend Association, St. Philip Men's Club and Germania Maennerchor. George served our country as a veteran of the United States Army
during World War II
Surviving George are two daughters, Sandy Barron and her husband Carl "Mick" of Clearwater, FL and Gail Deig of Henderson, KY; a son, Tim Deig of Evansville, one sister and her husband, Evelyn and Bill Meisler of Evansville; two grandchildren, Andrea Chmielewski and Scott Barron and four great grandchildren, Nathan, Lily, Willow Grace and Rhiannon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae Deig and three sisters, Olivia Rittenbury, Helen Pfister and Pauline Titzer.
Funeral services for George will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Michael Stoelting officiating. Entombment will follow in Locust Hill Mausoleum, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society, 600 Millner Industrial Drive, Evansville, IN 47710 or to Heritage Hospice, 1202 W. Buena Vista Road, Evansville, IN 47710.
