Harold D. "Bud" Hopple, 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.
Bud was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 9, 1925. He was a United States Army Veteran. Bud retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181, and was currently working for JKL Construction as the maintenance supervisor. He was a devoted member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, German Township, where he was fond of the annual burgoo cooking. Bud had many talents and passions; he was a self taught contractor, founding member of the German Township Fire Department, member of Lincoln Hills Bantam Club, he enjoyed camping, playing clabber with his sons, Bud also loved dogs, especially his dog, Molly. Above all this, Bud's family was his greatest enjoyment.
Bud is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy May Hopple, sons, Gary L. (Shirley) Hopple of Evansville, IN, Daryl A. (Susan) Hopple of Lebanon, IN, and Chris T. (Terri) Hopple of Haubstadt, IN; grandchildren, Sherrill May (Brian) Rich, Sean DeRae (Jessica) Hopple, Libby Hopple and Robert (Katie) Hopple; great grandchildren, Logan D., Kyle, Jaret, Colin and Emma Hopple, Zarren and Kameron Rich.
A celebration of Bud's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 15, 2013 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ German Township, 8701 Big Cynthiana Road with Rev. Howard "Howie" Tobak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, German Township, 8701 Big Cynthiana Road, Evansville, IN 47720.
