Herman L. Frankenberger
Herman L. Frankenberger, age 89, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital surrounded by his family.
Mr. Frankenberger worked as a car salesman for Cooke Chevrolet, Kenny Kent Chevrolet and O'Daniel Ranes dealerships before retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Herman was a veteran of the United States Army
, serving as a combat engineer during World War II
and was a member of VFW
Surviving Herman are his wife of 60 years, Leona (Garrison) Frankenberger; three daughters, Rita (Bart) Masterson, Karen (Ed) Crowe and Julia (Mark) Stansberry, all of Evansville; four sons, Michael Frankenberger of Newburgh, Mark (Nancy) Frankenberger, Max (Joni) Frankenberger and Matthew E. Frankenberger, all of Evansville and two sisters, Leona Clark of Scranton, PA and Irene Gansman of Evansville. Also surviving Herman are fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Herman was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet Frankenberger; sister, Mildred Erbacher; four brothers, Harold, Stanley, Frederick and William Frankenberger and a great grandchild, Cody Willman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. Kenneth Herr and Rev. August Busch officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Thursday at St. Boniface Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, VFW Post #1114 or to Evansville ARC.
