Hugo Zimmermann passed away December 7, 2012 at the Charlier Hospice Center, Evansville, IN. He was born October 15, 1920 to Hugo and Brownie (Mosley) Zimmermann. Hugo was the youngest of five children-sisters Edith Ost, Amy Goweay, Pauline Denstorff and brother Frank Zimmermann, Sr.
He married Thelma Phillips June 22, 1943 in Brady, TX.
Hugo graduated from Luce Township High School in 1937. Graduated Lockyear College (AA), University of Maryland (BS), Kentucky Wesleyan College (BA), Murray State University (MBA), Harvard University
(AMP), Air Force Statistical School, Air Tactical School, Armed Forces Staff College, Naval War College.
Post military activities were Professor of law and management-Kentucky Wesleyan, National Defense Executive Reservist, Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Hugo flew fifty-two missions from England, Italy, Belgium and France 1944-1945. His major assignments were: Combat Crew, Air Force Liaison, 82nd and 101st Airborne Regiments, Flying Instructor, Engineering Test Pilot, Director of Operations, Group Commander, Major Command Division Chief, Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Force Academy, Assistant Comptroller of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. Deputy Chief of Staff, Tactical Air Command, Virginia.

Hugo had 7,824 flying hours, was a Command Pilot, flew in all 50 states, 5 continents and 36 countries. He was decorated for valor by three nations. Hugo retired as a Full Colonel United States Air Force
Hugo also published 20 publications related to military operations and law.
Hugo is survived by his wife Thelma and nieces and nephews: Herman and Jerry Denstorff, Bruce Goweay, Phyllis Watson, Jack Ost, Joan Ritter, Frank Zimmermann, Jr. Robert Zimmermann, Sr., Hugo Zimmermann.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to service time at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel.
Services will begin at noon Tuesday with Rev. Donald Bernhardt officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct graveside services.
