James "Jim" George, 87, died Saturday, January 11, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Tell City.
He was born November 29, 1926 to the late Anna (Cassidy) George.
A 1945 graduate of Oil Township School, Jim was a veteran of the Air Force. He had worked at Tell City Chair Company for 15 years and retired from National South Wire Aluminum after 18 years. He was a member of St. Augustine Church, serving on the Parrish Council, American Legion Post #213, Moose Lodge, the Perry Central School Board and Central Perry Fire Dept, where he served as President for several years. He enjoyed word puzzles and gardening.
Surviving are his children, Fred George, of Leopold, and Diane (Rob, Sr.) Royer, of Tell City; stepchildren, Daryl (Jeanne) Jones, of Georgetown, Ky., Sheila (Dave) Rearden, of Tell City, and Jeff (Betty) Jones, of Tell City; sisters, Alice Cassidy, of Tell City, and sister, Eulalie O. Carm, of West Palm, Fla.; grandchildren, Eric George, Jamie Roark, Dana Hubert, Rob Royer, Jr., and Matt Royer; stepgrandchildren, Kristen Farr, Chad and Jeremy Jones; great-grandchildren, Terissa, Makenzy, Kaden, Alyssa, Dylan, Gage and Philip; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Samantha, Kaelin, Jabie, Madelyn and Evelyn .
He is preceded in death by first wife, Inez (Sweat) George; second wife, Virginia (Bolin) George; sons, Mike and Don George; grandson, Brandon George; stepgranddaughter, Jennifer Jones; his mother, Anna Cassidy;and stepfather, Albert Cassidy; a sister, Evelyn Lasley.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. CST on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Father Brian Esarey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
