Kenneth William Grose, 86, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.
Ken was born in Ansted, WV, on May 23, 1927, to the late, James Arthur and Lara (Dempsey) Grose. He graduated from Ansted High School in 1945, and attended West Virginia Tech for 2 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Ken worked as a quality control manager at Gencorp. He was a talented musician, who played the drums in "Doc Stockers Band" for over 30 years, was a member of "Temple Airs" and several other local bands. Ken also enjoyed playing the tenor sax and loved listening to jazz music.
Ken is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jenny (Rumage) Grose; daughter, Laura Jean (Grose) Bettag, of Maquoketa, Iowa; sons, James William Grose (Patty), of Phoenix, AZ, and Richard Lee Grose (Arlene), of Palm Dale, CA; stepdaughters, Angela Fischer (Stan), of Evansville, IN, Cynthia Kueber (John), of Evansville, IN, Debra Schenk (Pat), of Wadesville, IN, and Amy Macke (John), of Indianapolis, IN; stepsons, Robert Ludwig Jr. and Stanley Ludwig, both of Evansville, IN; half brother, Larry Grose, of Ansted, WV; grandchildren, Leisa Schmidt, Scott Grose, Brittany Bettag and Catherine Bettag; stepgrandchildren, Natalie Jeffries, Chris, Brian and Stephanie Kueber, Daniel and Samuel Ludwig, Amanda Schenk, Allison Hatfield, Andy and Aimee Fischer, John, Erin and Daniel Macke; great-grandchildren, Samantha Schmidt, Bronte Schmidt and Sophie Grose; stepgreat-grandchildren, Aiden, Parker and Sophie Jeffries, Hera and Grae Ludwig, Gavin and Kynslee Kueber, Madison Schenk, Joey Crowe, Abbi Hatfield, Collin and Nolan Fischer.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, with Pastor Mike Monahan officiating. The Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 3 p.m. until service time on Monday at Browning Funeral Home.
