Lois "Erline" Orton Ridens Cable
Lois "Erline" Orton Ridens Cable, 79 of Evansville passed away at 10:55 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Erline was born May 19, 1934 in Hanson, Kentucky the daughter of the late Fay R. and Novella (Davis) Orton. Her father died in 1940 when she was 6 years old. With her mother working in a defense plant in Detroit, Erline and her sister went to live with their grandparents in Evansville, IN until WWII was over. Several years later her mother married Carl Espenlaub of Evansville. Erline graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School in 1952 and married John W. Ridens that same year. She lived in the Evansville area all her life and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She became an accomplished pianist at a young age and enjoyed playing for church services, youth camps and later in nursing homes. After the death of her first husband, John W. Ridens in 1988, she married Dennis W. Cable in 1992.
Erline is survived by her sons, John D. (Janie) Ridens of Tampa, FL and Randall A. (Teresa) Ridens of Evansville, IN; sisters, Anita Carroll of Fortson, GA and Sue (Ron) Tabor of Evansville, IN; stepson, Dennis W. Cable II of Bacliff, TX, stepdaughter, Patsy (Rabey) Smith of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Jon (Whitney) Ridens of Yonkers, NY, Jan Cox of Tampa, FL and Nathan Ridens of Burnsville, MN; great grandchildren, Grady and Conner; step great grandchildren, Addison, Grace, Ryan Joseph, Benjamin, Peyton and Jack and many nieces and nephews.
Erline was preceded in death by her first husband of 36 years, John W. Ridens; her parents, Fay Orton and Novella Orton Espenlaub and her stepfather, Carl Espenlaub. She was also preceded in death by her second husband of 22 years, Dennis W. Cable.
The family extends sincere gratitude for the compassionate care given by the employees of units 5100 and 3200 of Deaconess Hospital, downtown location and by Dr. Mark Browning, Dr. Steed Jackson and Dr. Todd Burry.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Monday, April 7, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Bill Kellogg and Reverend Jay Bailey officiating. Burial will be private.
Friends may call from 12 pm until time of service at 3 pm, Monday at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
