Leona M. Frankenberger
Leona M. (Garrison) Frankenberger, 87, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the VNA Charlier Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Frankenberger was a homemaker and a mother and had worked as a dental assistant. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and VFW
Post #1114 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving Leona are three daughters, Rita (Bart) Masterson, Karen (Ed) Crowe and Julia (Mark) Stansberry, all of Evansville; four sons, Michael Frankenberger, Mark (Nancy) Frankenberger, Max (Joni) Frankenberger and Matthew E. Frankenberger, all of Evansville; three sisters, Lessie Harp, Mable Tallent and Janice Robertson, all of Evansville; and one brother, Leroy Garrison, of Evansville. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Herman L. Frankenberger, in September of 2013; by an infant daughter, Janet Frankenberger; sister, Joyce Ann Harp; by two brothers, Donald and Jim Garrison and a great-grandson, Cody Willman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. Kenneth Herr officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may visit with the family from 2 until 7 p.m. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at St. Boniface Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, VFW Post #1114 or to Evansville ARC.
