Mont M. Boatman, Jr., 90, of Chandler, Ind., passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Woodmont Nursing Home in Boonville, Ind.
He was born in Veedersburg, Ind., January 15, 1924 and grew up in Covington, Ind. He attended Covington High School and enjoyed playing basketball for them.
After graduation he served with the U.S. Navel Service during WWII where he attended school and became a chief machinist on aircraft carriers.
He was employed by Diebold for many years working well into his seventies.
Mont had many talents and hobbies. He could expertly repair watches, engrave jewelry, or paint beautiful art. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, tennis and bowling.
He was a devout member of the Chandler United Methodist Church.
Mont is survived by his daughter, Mona (David) Witt, of Granger, Ind.; stepchildren, Alan (Ruth) Ringo, of Sacramento, Calif., Barbara (John) Graham, of Chrisney, Ind., Marsha (Robin) Burkes, of Huntington, W.V.; grandchildren, Eric (Misti) Wagemann, Michael (Melissa) Burkes, David Burkes, Jason Ringo, Vanessa (Brandon) Voetsch, Angela (Ken) Hansen, Reginald (Mary)Witt, Michael(Kelsey) Witt; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014, at Koehler Funeral Home-Perigo Chapel 7022 Heim Road, Chandler, Ind. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Chandler, Ind., with military rites by Warrick County Memorial Services. Friends may call Friday 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
