Perry Eugene Blackford, 80, of Evansville, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord to his final destination, Heaven on Monday, November 11, 2013 at The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway.
Perry was born in Warrick County, Indiana on June 8, 1933 to the late Estell E. and Stella Mae (Crowe) Blackford Schmett. He worked 42 years for Faultless Caster as a tool and die maker. Perry was a member and past president of Local 2040. He served in the United States Army. Perry was a devout Christian who attended church. He enjoyed spending time with his special companion, Rascal his dog.
Perry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores (Tarrant) Blackford of Evansville, IN; his children, Mona J. (Blackford) Murray of Evansville, IN, Perry Blackford Jr. (Lisa) of Evansville, IN and Sherry (Blackford) Jones (Steve) of Evansville, IN; brothers, Daniel Schmett of Grayville, IL, David Schmett (Margie) of Evansville, IN, William Lee Schmett (Linda) of Newburgh, IN; sister-in-law, Anita Blackford; grandchildren, Ryan P. Murray (Elizabeth), Layne Jones, Donnie Jones, Brittany, Heather, Jessica and Samantha Aubin; great granddaughter, Syra Mae Murray, several nieces and nephews.
Perry is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Edward Blackford.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Rev. Steven Jones officiating. Burial will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ German Township where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home.
