Richard Leon Pate Sr., 81, of Evansville, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at his home.
Richard was born September 25, 1932, in Evansville, the son of Walter and Daisy Jean (Cummins) Pate and was a 1949 graduate of Bosse High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army
serving for 24 years as a medic and Sergeant E6. Richard was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. He retired from Guardian Industries where he was a supervisor and group leader. After retirement Richard worked as a security guard for Old National Bank for 9 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara (Kaiser) Pate, of Evansville; children, Tonya Tuley (Mark) and Richard "Rick" Pate Jr. (Lavetta), both of Newburgh, Ind.; granddaughter, Ashley Ward (Justin); and great-grandson, Jameson Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Allen Pate; and siblings, Roselee James and Jerry Pate.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, with Pastor David Cullison officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Mausoleum where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites.
