Mount Vernon, Ind.
Robert "Bob" Charles Babillis, 72 of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Betty Charlier Hospice Center. He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on October 22, 1940, to Alexander and Viola Babillis.
He grew up in the Massachusetts area and attended University of Massachusetts where he earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He went on to earn his Masters of Chemical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute. Upon graduation he moved to Mount Vernon, Ind., and started his 30 year career with General Electric. Bob was a member of the Lake Placid, Fla., Elks lodge
. He enjoyed playing hockey and golf, driving convertibles, doing crossword puzzles and spending winters at his Lake Placid, Fla., home.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dodie; his sons, Eric (Angie), of Saint Phillips, Ind., and Brian (Kelly), of Granite City, Ill.; stepsons, Davin and Danin Breeze, of Mount Vernon, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and his brother, Richard Babillis of Pagosa Springs, Colo.
Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mount Vernon with Fr. James Blessinger officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012, at Schneider Funeral Home in Mount Vernon and continued from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Posey County
or the Posey Humane Society.
