Robert James O'Leary Jr., 58, of Evansville passed away on July 7, 2013, at his residence. He was born in Somerville, Mass., to Ellen L. and Robert J. O'Leary. Bob served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He had more than 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, 28 years with Toyota.
Bob began his career in 1976 with Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, Mich., and later with American Motors Corp. in Kenosha, Wis. He left American Motors in 1984 to assume a leadership position with New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI), the Toyota/General Motors Joint Venture in Fremont, Calif. In 2008, Bob joined Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) holding executive leadership positions, most recently Vice President - Administration.
Bob served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Manufacturers Association. He also served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana. He was formerly a member of the Tri-State Manufacturers' Alliance Executive Committee and the Evansville Diversity Lecture Series Board.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. O'Leary, Sr.; and by his brother, David M. O'Leary. Survivors include his loving wife, Laura O'Leary; children, David Joseph O'Leary and Nicholas James O'Leary; mother, Ellen L. O'Leary; and siblings, Michael W. O'Leary, Jeffrey A. O'Leary, and Amy M. O'Leary.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the in memory of Robert J. O'Leary, Jr.
