William Stubblefield Easley, 86, of Evansville, IN died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born September 25, 1927 in Paducah, KY to the late Ocie and Lula Stubblefield (Easley) and moved with the family to Evansville, IN in 1930.
William attended Lincoln School where he discovered and developed his love of football and music. He was a gifted vocalist and he loved to sing. After graduating, he entered the Armed Forces and was deployed to Seoul Korea at 18. He served courageously in the Korean Conflict & Vietnam War until his retirement in 1961. The family would like to thank The American Legion: Otis Stone Post 354 for assisting Mr. Easley in officially being recognized by his country for his dedicated service and by receiving his honorable awards and metals nearly 50 years after his retirement from the Armed Forces. Thank you.
"Bub" as he is affectionately called by family, will be missed. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Richard L. Barksdale Sr. of Evansville; 10 grandchildren: Richard Jr., Rene'e and Tracey & Barksdale, Angela Bowman, Rick Foster, Fannette, Jacqueline & Maurice Hill and Mary & Martha Mack; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha.
Services are Wed, February 26, 2014 at 11:00am at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 663 S. Elliot St, Evansville, with Rev. Rabon Turner officiating. Visitation Tuesday from 4pm - 8pm at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel with visitation with the family starting at 6pm. Burial at Sunset Memorial Park. Mason Bros Memorial Chapel in charge.
