Jimmy Pullum Obituary

Rev. Jimmy Duane Pullum

Evansville, IN

Rev. Jimmy Duane Pullum, 75, of Evansville, left this world peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 19, 2017.

Jim was born to Rev. Oscar and Marie Pullum on February 20, 1942 in Benton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Don Pullum.

Like his father, Jim was an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene was a bi-vocational pastor at several area churches, including First Church of the Nazarene, Grace Church of the Nazarene and Beacon Church of the Nazarene, all of Evansville, and at First Church of the Nazarene in Fort Branch, IN. He was also associate pastor at Diamond Valley (currently Faith) Church of the Nazarene in Evansville.

Jim was a master electrician and was co-owner of J&D Electric with his son Keith. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his sons. He had a pilot license (for his love of flying in air) and owned a Harley-Davidson (for his love of flying on land), but Jim's favorite pastime was the yearly family vacations to Daytona Beach, FL. Jim enjoyed meeting and talking with people and lived life to the fullest. He loved God and his family. Jim's favorite song, "I Wouldn't Take Nothin' for My Journey Now," features the line "Gotta make it to Heaven somehow" – and he did!

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Paula Sturgeon Pullum; two sons, Duane Keith (Janelle) Pullum and Brian Dale (Christie) Pullum; three daughters, Tina Garrett, Shannon (Nick) Hurley and Angela Pullum; two stepdaughters, Tiffany (Matt) Ware and Cassandra Cordray; two brothers, Ron (Sharon) Pullum and Brian David (Sarah) Pullum; one sister, Freida (Danny) Smitha; two brothers-in-law, Steven (Sharon) Sturgeon and Timothy (Karen) Sturgeon; two sisters-in-law, Carlotta Pullum and Kathy Sturgeon; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Heritage Center and Heritage Hospice for their loving care during the final part of Jim's journey here on earth.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home in Newburgh, officiated by Rev. Steven Beck, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Jim was a great friend to our family. I personally remember all the years of attending Church together, being in his home for Bible study and all the fun we had playing softball together. Will miss his humor also, and our shared love of talking about Daytona Beach. I know Jim is in a much better place now. Can't wait to see him again.

I'm so sorry for your personal loss, but Heaven has gained. My daddy was Rev Norman Elder who served along with his parents. I haven't heard this name for years, but it immediately rang bells. May God bless you with beautiful memories & think of all the souls he reached for the Lord during his ministry.

I am so saddened to hear about Jimmy. Paula & Jimmy were neighbors when we lived in Evansville, and Paula babysat for my daughter. Jimmy was always great around the kids and they loved him. Paula & the family will be in my prayers.
