The home of Dick and Barb Mushlitz was a place where music and guitar playing was allowed and encouraged. Back in the 60s, that wasn't always the case. Guitars were a challenge to the older generation, but not at the Mushlitz house. I remember my brother Chris bringing his bass to the house and jamming with Dick and Dick showing him old blues records. Dick had an actual room just for music with instruments, records and tape recorders and that was cool. Yesterday while remembering Dick with Rick Riccardi, Jim Cogan it was clear that a lasting appreciation for Dick's mentorship to our musical journeys still exists.

The thing I remember Dick most for happened the day my brother Chris died. Dick was the first person to enter the doorway of our broken home. He arrived with a sense of urgency and I think as the door opened he instantly realized, there was nothing to say. He walked in and sat on the sofa with his hands on his knees and his head down, We shared the most profound 20 minutes of silence I have experienced. Later it occurred, he must have left work immediately on hearing the news. He was brave to enter. To this day that moment holds my respect and admiration. My condolences and love to Mike, Shawn, Ann, Dave and their families. Love, Seth
