Evansville, Ind.
Leroy "Chub" Armstrong, 76, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at St Mary's Medical Center. He was born December 4, 1938 in Evansville to his parents Lee and Louella (McLaughlin) Armstrong. Leroy graduated from Central High School. He retired from Bucyrus-Erie after 20 years when they decided to close their doors, then he went to work for Kerry Ingredients for another 20 years. Leroy spent time camping and fishing with his family. He received his pilot's license in the 1970's, was a coin collector, genealogy enthusiast, and most recently picked up golfing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol (Harkins) Armstrong; son, Steven Armstrong; grandchildren, Megan E. and Sean P. Armstrong, all of Evansville; siblings, Peggy Melton, Deloris Finnerty, Laura Sandefur, and Ellis T. Armstrong.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1800 St. George Road, Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Bruce Applegate officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Church of God, 8900 Baumgart Rd., Evansville, IN 47725.
