New Harmony, IN
Rev. Ronald Dean Mitchell, 71, of New Harmony, IN passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. He was born February 8, 1944 to Glen and Pauline (Lane) Mitchell.
Dean was a 1962 graduate of Triton Central in Fairland, IN and a graduate of Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Ellen (Mohr) Mitchell on June 7, 1963. He had been a minister for over 50 years in the following Indiana towns, Roann, Waterloo, North Manchester, Farmland, and Mt. Vernon. Dean was a Kentucky Colonel and an avid hunter. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and Harmony Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Papaw loved his grandsons, Jake, Landon, and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephews, Denny Dean Mitchell and Bryan Wayne Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; sons, Ron (Amy) Mitchell, John Mitchell, and Chad (Kristen) Mitchell; brothers, Don (Jeanie) Mitchell, Gary (Juanita) Mitchell, and Benny (Candy) Mitchell; sisters, Karen (Tom) Roberts and Glenda (Jim) Overby; grandchildren, Jake, Landon, and Logan Mitchell; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 28, 2015 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St. Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Steve Kochersterer officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Foundation, The American Cancer Society or Harmony Chapel Church of the Nazarene.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you, your mom, and your brothers. My fondest memory of your dad is seeing him during our football pregame dinners on Thursday nights trying to impart some wisdom on all of us knucklehead 17 year olds! Our prayers are with you and your entire family.
