Elaine Gomoll Obituary

Elaine L. Gomoll
Evansville, Ind.
Elaine Lois (Kirkpatrick) Gomoll, 78, of Richboro, Pa., formerly of Evansville, Ind., passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Elaine was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 24, 1935 to Frank James and Nell (Gach) Kirkpatrick. She and her husband, Allen, moved to Evansville, Ind., in 1966 when he was hired by Mead Johnson Pharmaceuticals. Always interested in helping others, Elaine started volunteering at WNIN Channel 9 only to be put on staff in charge of membership. Her efforts didn't stop there; she went on the Board of Directors for Evansville Civic Theatre, University of Evansville and served as president for the Philharmonic Guild for several terms. Her generous support and perseverance led her to receive the Mayor's Arts award in 1987. Elaine moved to Connecticut for a short time but the couple now calls Richboro, Pa., their home. However due to her health, they have been living in Newburgh, Ind., with their daughter since 2009. A 'self made' gourmet cook, Elaine also enjoyed entertaining and cooking for others. Her gregarious personality was infectious and her laughter, once heard, was never forgotten.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 58 years, Allen Gomoll, PhD., of Richboro, Pa.; daughter, Lisa Garrett, of Newburgh, Ind.; grandson, Colton Garrett, of Newburgh, Ind.; granddaughters, Garra (Alan) Schulze, of Boonville, Ind., Ashlyn Gomoll, of Evansville, Ind.l and great-grandchild, Kennedy "Peanut" Grace Schulze.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Gary Gomoll.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. with Rev Alfonso McClelland officiating. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at Browning Funeral Home.

Al and Lisa, I always had a great time with you both and especially with Elaine. She was the light of the world to me when I was with her - which was many times. Sorry I will not be at the service as we now have retired and live in Hilton Head, SC.
My prayers to all of you.
