Anna Marie "Ann" Allega, 93, of Vincennes, Ind., died August 28, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
Ann was born on August 24, 1920, in Vincennes, Ind. Her parents were George Sheldon, Sr., and Frances (Scheefers) Sheldon. She married Charles "Reg" Allega on July 29, 1942. He preceded her in death. Ann attended St. Rose Academy in Vincennes and was employed as a licensed beautician prior to starting her family which consisted of six children. She later worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Ann was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was a loyal member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vincennes and she attended Mass almost every day until her recent illness. She was active in church organizations including the quilting crew at St. John Church. She was a volunteer in several youth organizations while raising her children. She was an avid reader and lifelong patron of the Knox County Public Library.
She is survived by her sons, Tim Allega, and his wife, Barbara, of Charleston, South Carolina, Dan Allega of Vincennes, Ind., Dr. John Allega, and his wife, Amy, of Evansville, Ind., Jerry Allega, and his wife, Cindy, of Evansville, Ind.; her daughters, Beth Thomas, and her husband, Jeff, of Terre Haute, Ind., Nancy Drake, and her husband, Paul, of Terre Haute, Ind.; her eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T., Monday, September 2, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m
