Charles Crothers

Charles R. Crothers, 80, of Evansville passed away Friday, January 10, 2014. He was born December 12, 1933 in Ligonier, IN to John and Ruth Crothers.
Charlie served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1953 to 1957. He graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. Charlie worked at General Electric Company as an electrical engineer and retired from Amax Coal Company. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt. Charlie enjoyed country music, riding his motorcycles, sprint car and NASCAR, and was a great mechanic who was able to fix anything.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mildred M. (DeRego) Crothers; daughter, Tanya Hattingh; and sister Patricia Ann Stanley.
Charlie is survived by his son, Tony Crothers of Evansville; daughters Terry King (Les) of Newburgh and Lauren Jones (David) of Evansville; grandchildren, Stan Straight, Mina Smith (D.J.), Jason King, Jaime Bowen (Andrew) and Justin King; 5 Great Grandchildren; and his very close companion, Mary Boyd.
Visitation will be Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 6300 First Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710 and will continue from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1401 W Boonville-New Harmony Road, Darmstadt, IN 47725.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Steve Kieser officiating.
Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
