Donald W. Bowers, age 85, of Evansville, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Golden Living Center - Woodlands in Newburgh.
Mr. Bowers had worked for SIGECO (Vectren) for 34 years in communications and instrumentation until his retirement and later at Tri-State Communications. He was a member of Forest Hills Wesleyan Church and enjoyed boating, water skiing and operating a Ham radio. Don had served his country as a veteran of the United States Army, during the Korean War he was stationed in Hawaii.
Surviving Don are his wife of 63 years, Jo Ann (Hudson) Bowers; two daughters, Debra Sue (Morris) Fife of Louisville, KY and Donna Gayle Carr of Evansville; Brother, Ronald (Doris) Bowers of Newburgh, Sister-in-law Barbara Bowers, grandchildren, Jessica Taylor and Hilliary Carr and a great granddaughter Adele Clay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Allean Bowers and a brother, Jim Bowers.
Funeral services for Don will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Michael Stoelting officiating. Burial will follow in Tupman Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Hills Wesleyan Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Vista Care Hospice for the care they gave Don.
