Donald A. Flick, age 82, of Evansville, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital.
Mr. Flick had worked at Emge Packing Company for 36 years before retiring in 1992. Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, the Men's Club at St. Joseph, the St. Joseph Carpenter Society, Armstrong Recreation Center, Darmstadt Retirees and the Knights of St. John. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the VFW Post #6576 in Wadesville.
Surviving Don are his wife of 57 years, Julitta (Helfrich) Flick; two daughters, Debbie (Glen) Seibert of Evansville and Diane Watker of Springfield, MO; one son, Dan Flick, Sr. of Evansville; a special niece, Charlene (Jerry) Scheller; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Brooke George) Seibert, Kristi (George) Wright, Brian Watker, Jr., Katie Watker, Daniel (fiancé`, Katelyn Fulcher) Flick, Jr., Carrie (Brian) Wagner and Blaise Flick; special grand nephews, Jeff (Holly) Scheller and Kristopher (fiancé`, Molly Beaman) Scheller; a great grandniece, Quinn Scheller; great grandnephew, Burk Scheller and a very special young man in Don's life, Porter George.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ione (Wernke) Flick; brother, Norman Flick and grandniece, Amanda Scheller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit from 10:30 A.M. until service time on Thursday at St. Joseph Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, IN, the Indianapolis School for the Deaf or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
