Dorothy Louise Allen
Evansville, Ind. — Dorothy Louise Allen, 92, of LaPine, Oreg., formerly of Evansville, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital in Ridgecrest, Calif. She was born in May 7, 1918, in Evansville, the daughter of Alma B. Sands and Cecil S. Yackle.
During her life she was a Red Cross Volunteer which helped her decide her career as an LVN/RN. She received her LVN at Menorah Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. and worked in the Hospital in International Falls, Minn. She went back to college in Ventura, Calif. and received her RN while working at Camarillo State Hospital in Camarillo, Calif. She continued her education at Green River College outside of Seattle, Wash., ended her career as an Elementary School Nurse at Painted Rock Elementary in Poway, Calif. and retired from the Poway Unified School District in 1987. She was very active in the Camarillo, Calif. and Kent, Wash. PTA, Air Life of Central Oregon and her local Senior Center in LaPine, Oreg. She was always happy to be helping others.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Pautz.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Billy D. Allen; daughters, Janice Pautz, Sandra LaVine and Kimberly Ferguson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; and three great-granddaughters-in-law.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at Park Lawn Cemetery. There will be a memorial service performed in her home town of La Pine, Oreg. at High Lakes Christian Church at a later date. Local arrangements by Alexander East Chapel.
