Elizabeth Jane McCarty Payne, 95 of Owensboro passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Owensboro. Her parents were Paul Ignatius and Nettie Rose Mahoney McCarty.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Aloysius Payne who passed on August 10, 2011; three brothers William Anthony, Paul I., James Michael McCarty and son-in-law, Joseph A. Hayden.
She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, praying the rosary, cooking, gardening and flowers.
She is survived by one son, James Robert Payne of Owensboro; two daughters, JoAnn Payne Hayden and her late husband, Joseph Hayden of Beech Grove and Brenda J. Payne of Owensboro; siblings Joseph C. McCarty and his wife, Dora Ann McCarty of Curdsville and Francis X. McCarty and his wife, Faye of Beech Grove and Sister Pauletta McCarty O.S.U. of Mount Saint Joseph, Ky., Rose Mary Pease and the late John of Evansville, Theresa Rose and the late Mike McCarty of Utica; sister-in-law Marian Jean McCarty of Owensboro, Evelyn and the late Thomas E. Drury of Rockport, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Sarah H. Thomas, Mark Hayden, Harriette H. Ellis, Matthew Hayden, Marie H Caraway, Michael Payne and Pam P. Robey; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:00am. Wednesday at St. Martin Catholic Church.
Visitation at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Tuesday and from 8:00 to 9:30am. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at.
Father Patrick Bittel will officiate.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to
Saint Martin Catholic Church or Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph and Hospice of Western Kentucky.
Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
