Ellen Mae Kissell, 91, of Evansville went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Parkview Care Center.
Ellen was born January 8, 1921 in Spencer County, Indiana the daughter of the late Chris and Edna (Cline) Rudisill. She spent most of her time in Evansville surrounded by her family and was very proud to be a five generation great great grandmother. Ellen was employed at Servel, Briggs Corp and Chrysler until the late 1960's. She was a 1947 graduate of De Vry's Beauty College and attended The Academy of Advanced Makeup Artist's with Vivian Woodward Cosmetics in Atlanta, GA. In the late 1960's she taught skin care and makeup, working in several beauty salons and was a salon owner for many years receiving numerous awards for her achievements. Ellen was a member of The Diamond Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and was awarded Woman of the Year in the late 1970's, also a former member of the Altrusa Club of Evansville and a member of The Red Hat Ladies Society. Ellen also was involved in the Rudisill Genealogy and made many books along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 58 years, Jerold O. Kissel in August 2005, son, Darrel Smith, Sr. in July 2008, sister, Alice Sturgeon and brother, Robert "Rudy" Rudisill.
She is survived by son, Charles Gailend Smith (Janice) of Evansville, 6 grandchildren, Michael Smith (Sue), Darla Smith Cannon (Dave) and Kelly Coy, all of Evansville, Darrel Smith, Jr. (Tina) of Boonville, Brian Smith of Florida, and Vikki Counts (Robert) of Florida, 7 great grandchildren, Christy Smith Partin (Dennis) of Chandler, Jason Reeves (Connie), Joshua Reeves, and DJ McClarney, all of Evansville, Kevin Coy (Nicole), Brian Nelson (Judy) and Nicolas Smith, all of Florida and 6 great great grandchildren, Devin and Lucas Partin of Chandler, Katelyn Savoic, Cameryn Coy and Emily Nelson, all of Florida and Jason Reeves, Jr. of Evansville.
The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Parkview Care Center for your love and care for Ellen, she loved you all dearly.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Pastor Tony Seale officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
