Elsie M. (Bisch-mann) Schweikarth, 96, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Elsie was born December 22, 1916. Her parents were Oscar and Grace Bischmann. She graduated from Central High School and attended Lockyear Business College. After college, she worked for a short time in Washington DC. Also, she was a Comptometer Operator at Chrysler. For many years, Elsie and Arnold had an Evansville Press motor route. She worked for Dr. Robert Arendell, Welborn Baptist Hospital and the University of Evansville in the Admitting Office and the Bookstore, from where she retired. Throughout Elsie and Arnold's married life they parented several foster children. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Newburgh.
She leaves one surviving sister, Ruth Guilliams, of Evansville; five children, Don (Jill)Schweikarth, of Washington, Ind., Jim (Constance) Fathera, of Newburgh, Ind., Nancy (James) Sutton, of Unionville, Ind., Jean (Magdi) Salib of Houston, Texas and Robert (Becky) Schweikarth, of West Lafayette, Ind.; a daughter-in-law Stacie Schweikarth (Larry) Krieger, of Newburgh, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Eve Giddens, Derek Schweikarth, Amy(Schweikarth) Bolek, Jon Sutton, Joanna Sutton, Brian Fathera, Stephen Schweikarth, Mark Schweikarth, and Josh Schweikarth. She had nine great-grandchildren.
Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Schweikarth, who died in 1971. They were married on July 28, 1938. Also preceding her in death are three brothers, Elmer, William (Bill) and an infant brother, Charles and one sister, Rev. Mary Lou Bischmann.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will from noon until 1 p.m. service time, Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville.
