James D. Beard, 76, of Evansville passed away Friday July 19, 2013 at Deaconess Hospice Center. He was born February 9, 1937 in Providence, KY to Richard and Laura (Sweeney) Beard.
James was a Veteran of the US Marines serving in Korea. He retired from Whirlpool after 42 years and he enjoyed drag racing, bowling, fishing and traveling.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (McCoy) Beard; parents, brothers, Richard and Edward Beard, and sister, Sarah Goodwin.
He is survived by his son, Russell Beard (Vicki) of Evansville; daughters Joann Magnus (Miles) of Evansville, Connie Shadd (Jackie) of Cynthiana, KY and Mary Sue Thomas of Evansville; grandchildren, Cathy Katz (Randy), Mark Magnus (Shannon), Mike Magnus, Lisa Magnus, Tammy Freels (Steve), Stella Roten, Cynthia Brown (James), and Shaun Shadd (Brittney); 14 great grandchildren and his little buddy Matthew Miley; brother, Ronald Beard; sisters, Judith Fulton (Benny) and Becky Light; brother-in-law, Ronald McCoy; 21 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday July 21, 2013 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710 and will continue from 11:00 - 1:00 pm Monday.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Monday July 22, 2013 at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Hill officiating.
Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery where the Retired Veteran Memorial Club will conduct graveside services.
