James W. 'Jay' Simpson
Evansville, Ind.
James W. "Jay" Simpson, 92, of Evansville, formerly of Orlando, Fla., passed away at 12:10 am, Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.
Jay was born November 14, 1920, in Tennessee the son of Willie and Anna (Knight) Simpson. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Jay was a self employed truck driver for North American Van Lines.
He is survived by daughter, Cathie Franklin, of Orlando, Fla.; sons, Mike Simpson and Tim Simpson (Heather), all of New Harmony, Ind., Mark Simpson and Larry Simpson (Virginia "Sissy"), all of Evansville, and Derrel Dossett (Gloria), of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Murline Johnson (Reverend Tony) and Emma Zehner (Bill), all of Evansville; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie (Petty) Simpson; his second wife, Beulah (Vealey) Simpson; brothers, Willie, Jr. and Fred Simpson; and sister, Lucy Rittenberry.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Tony Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
