Jeff Padgett Obituary
Jeff E. Padgett, 61, of Henderson, Ky., passed away at 1:25 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Visiting Nurse Association Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind.
He was born July 28, 1948, to Richard F. Padgett and Pauline P. Ellis. He graduated from Paoli High School in 1966, attended Vincennes University from 1966 to 1967, and earned a business degree from Northwood Institute in May 1969. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1969 to 1971. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve until September 1975.
He was administrator and part owner of Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City for 15 years. He was also co-owner and administrator of Colonial Assisted Living in Henderson and Vincennes for the past 10 years. He enjoyed his work and was devoted to his residents.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson, the Henderson Elks Lodge, Henderson Country Club, and Kentucky Assisted Living Association.
Jeff was a loving husband, father, Papaw, and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Karin Padgett; four daughters, Ally Adams of Henderson, Amy Keller (Joe) of Bloomington, Ind., Jodi Weist (Kris) of Petersburg, Ind., and Layla Enlow (Sean) of Henderson; one son, Logan Padgett of Robards, Ky.; and eight grandchildren, Madyson, Sophie, Jake, Alexis, Winter, Hannah, Daxx, and Shayland.
Services will be at 11 a.m. (EDT) Monday at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Ind. Dr. J. Douglas Blair will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, with full military rites performed by the Petersburg VFW Post No. 3587.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT) Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson, Ky., and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (EDT) Sunday and 9 a.m. (EDT) until service time Monday at Harris Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, 628 Second Street, Henderson, KY 42420.
