John William Hofmann
Evansville, Ind.
John William Hofmann, 81, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his home.
John was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 17, 1931 to the late John and Edith (Collee) Hofmann. He graduated from Reitz High School. John worked at Mead Johnson for 29 years and he was also a Realtor and Insurance Salesman. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and politics.
John is survived by: daughters, Theresa Kempf of Evansville, IN and Susan (Alvin Jr.) Gries of Poseyville, IN; sisters, Margaret Large of MO and Edna (Jim) Ingram of Lawrenceville, IL; brother, George (Janet) Hofmann of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Brian Hofmann, Joanie Norman, Frankie Kempf Jr., Brandon Reed, April Ford, Justin Gries, Jessica Gries, Jessica Gries and Angela Kempf and 8 great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sharon Hofmann in 2010 and a son, John Edward Hofmann.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church Darmstadt, 1401 W. Boonville New Harmony Road, Evansville, IN 47725 with Rev. Stephen Kieser officiating. Burial will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at church.
