Kenneth R. Macken, 71, of Evansville, passed away at 6:03 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.
Kenny was born April 27, 1941, in Evansville the son of James and Mary (Larken) Macken. He was a 1959 graduate of Memorial High School and attended U of E. Kenny was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a police officer for the Evansville Police Department for 23 years. During that time Kenny was president of the Fraternal Order of Police for 5 years and president of the Pension Board for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gloria (Jones) Macken, of Evansville; daughters, Cheryl (Macken) Vermaat, of Bloomington, Ind., and Ashley Macken and Tamara (Macken) Schuler, both of Evansville; sons, Kenneth Macken, Jr and Scott Macken, both of Evansville; sister, Virginia Ellsperman, of Evansville; grandchildren, Jeremy Macken, Terra Craig, Andrea Macken, Nicole Scott and Hannah Scott; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of a Christian burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E. Virginia St., Evansville with Father Ted Tempel officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville where a Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Friends may call again from 11:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the church.
