Dr. Lea Ann Davenport, 41, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on April 17, 2013, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer.
Lea Ann was born on April 27, 1971, to William P. and Ann Davenport in Madisonville, Ky. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Madisonville. She graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 1989. Subsequently, she attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington, graduating in 1993 with a BS in Biology. Lea Ann was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She then attended the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry where she earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1998 and a certificate in pediatric dentistry in 2000. Lea Ann was a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She practiced with Dr. David Moore in Charlotte, N.C. from 2000-2002 and with Tina Merhoff in Winston Salem, N.C. from 2002-2005. Currently, Lea Ann was in a partnership with Davenport, Brummer, and Travis in Evansville, Ind.
Lea Ann is survived by her parents and her daughter, Lily-Ann, who was the highlight of her life. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kermit and Agnes Oglesby and Claude Davenport and Lila Dunnigan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Christian Church in Evansville, Ind., on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 1 p.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. There will also be visitation Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, Ky. A private burial will be held at a later date.
A special thanks to Sandy Brown who served as a caregiver for Lea Ann from the time of her diagnosis until her passing. The family sincerely appreciates the love and support given by her many patients, friends, and colleagues.
