Leonard 'Chicken' Collins
Evansville, Ind.
Leonard Collins, 88, passed on Sunday, March 3, 2013, Brentwood Nursing Home.
He was a member of Little Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, and sang in the Men's choir. He was also a member of Ministers and Deacons Alliance, the Liberty Golden Age Breakfast Club and the prayer van. He served in World War II and worked for Chrysler, delivered Airline tickets for Ambasaddor Travel, operated a valet service for Kirby's and owned his own valet service "Collins Valet", and Collins Day Care Center. He was also foster parent for many years.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricardoand Cortez Collins; and wife, Bertha Collins.
He leaves to cherish memory two sons, Michael and Steven Collins; four daughters, Joyce Washington, Shannon Collins-Clark, Ashley Collins, Cheyann Kay; six grandsons; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Little Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel, and 6 to 8 p.m. at Little Valley Baptist Church. Rev. Matory Bailey officiating. Burial in Oakhill Cemetery. Mason Brothers handling arrangements.
