Siebe, age 89, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday February 19, 2014 at his residence. Member of North Friendship Baptist Church in Lynnville, Mason Lodge 396, Petersburg American Legion, fan of Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears & the Indiana Hoosiers. Bowled in several leagues in the Evansville Athletic & Franklin lanes. He bowled his first 300 game at age 62 at Willow Lanes. Leonard was a Lineman from D-Day +1 through the Battle of the Bulge, served in the European theater for 19 months as a lineman under combat condition. Strung up the lines & found all breaks& repaired them. Used working equipment as safety belt, test set consisting of head phone with a crank & dry cell battery, wire pliers, knife & insulating wire with friction tape. Was responsible for keeping the lines open at all times for communication from headquarters to the front lines. Was awarded five battle stars, a bronze star & 2 purple hearts.
He was preceded in death by parents; W. D. & Ethel Siebe; brother, Amel Siebe; sisters, Carrie Austin, Opal Bailey, Valice McKinny; wives, Rosemary Spraggins Siebe & Geraldine Siebe & stepdaughter Beverly Boes. He is survived by loving wife, Mary Lou (Barnett) Siebe; sons, James Ray (Vicki) Siebe, Tim Siebe (Darla Neff); daughter Rhonda Kay (Larry) Stewart; grandchildren, Ryan (Shannon) Siebe, Jonathon (Robin) Siebe, Stephanie Stewart, Zachary Stewart, Daniel Stewart & Bethany Stewart; great-grandchildren, Tyson Siebe, Eden & Ezra Siebe; Luke & Jake Spirko; step-children, Linda (Keith) Schmett, Cindy Tutt, Clint Allen; step-grandchildren, Emily Schmett, Jerry (Jennifer) Boes, John (Kelly) Boes, Candy (Greg) Hedge & Tony (Bree) Boes.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 am CST, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at North Friendship Baptist Church, 2244 West State Road 68 Lynnville, IN 47619. Visitation 4 - 8 pm on Friday (TODAY) at Pemberton-Bradley Funeral Home, 301 North Main St. Lynnville, IN. And 1 hour prior to the service at Church. Interment Lynnville Cemetery.
