Leroy Tinsley
Mount Carmel, Ill.
Leroy Tinsley, 90, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013, at Wabash General Hospital.
He was born on Sunday, January 28, 1923, in Dix, Illinois, the son of Edgar Tinsley and Addelle (Hays) Lance. Leroy married Claire L. (West) Tinsley on January 28, 1950, in Belleville, Illinois; she survives. He was a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific receiving the Silver Star and Purple Heart. In 1996, he retired from Mount Carmel Sand and Gravel as co-owner. He served as a past president of the Associated General Contractors of Illinois. Leroy was a member of VFW and Elks. He was a deacon and elder of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
Leroy is survived by his daughter, Trudy (Ed) Tucker, of Manitou, Kentucky; son, Thomas (Terri) Tinsley, of Mount Carmel, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Emily and Maggie Tinsley.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Barbara Lance Vest; and four brothers, Harold Tinsley, Lester Tinsley, James Lance and Eddie Lance.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Cunningham Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Cunningham Funeral. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
