Madelon B. Gwaltney
Newburgh, Ind.
Madelon B. Gwaltney, 93, of Newburgh, passed away at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Golden Living Center Woodlands.
Madelon was born December 6, 1919, in Norris City, Illinois, to Raymond and Maude (Henson) Martin and graduated from Norris City High School. She was employed at Servel Corporation in Evansville, during World War II. Madelon retired from the M&M Mars Company in Waco, Texas. Upon returning to Evansville, she worked at DeJong's Department Store until she was 75 years of age.
She is survived by daughters, Beverly (Avery) Carmack, of Evansville, and Karen S. Madden, of Kokomo, Ind., son, Keith E. Gwaltney, of Tyler, Texas; sister, Evelyn Kirby, of Veedersburg, Ind.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchilren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 21 years, Wilson E. Gwaltney in 1967; and brothers and sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Golden Living Center Woodlands for their care and compassion.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Calvert's Chapel Cemetery, Cynthiana with Avery Carmack officiating
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville.
