Margaret Lucille (Herron) Behme, age 92, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at the West River Health Campus.
Margaret was born December 27, 1919, in Evansville, to the late Fred and Stella (Melton) Herron and raised by her father and stepmother, Fred and Auida Herron. She attended St. Vincent's Girls Academy and Memorial High School. She was a homemaker, but had also worked as a beauty operator and at Briggs on the wings of planes during World War II. Margaret also volunteered as a Pink and Gray Lady at Deaconess Hospital and later worked the information desk there part time. She enjoyed spending time boating and fishing while at Barkley Lake with her husband, Clarence and reading and working crossword puzzles. For the past 20 years, she has enjoyed spending weekends at Bob's Little River House.
Surviving Margaret are her daughters, Linda (Bob) Rheinlander, of Evansville, and Candy (Tom) Hayden, of Foley, Ala.; son, Clem (Melanie) Behme, of Evansville; grandchildren, Karen (Greg) Hamilton, Kristi (Kevin) O'Malley, Keith (Christie) Rheinlander, Kami (Audie) Wilson, Amy (Bob) Fisher, Brock (Sarah) Henning and Kristin (Eric) Millay. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1977; her stepmother, Auida; sisters, Louise Schenk and Katy Weigand; a brother, George Herron and a grandchild, Timothy Matthew Henning.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Rev. Ted Tempel officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
