Marion Rose "Rosie" Greenwell, 81, of Evansville, passed away 6:15 p.m. July 10, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Home, Evansville.
Rosie was born December 30, 1931 in Henderson, KY to William Jr. and Claudia Wilson Tanner. She worked various sales and management jobs but she truly loved being a homemaker. She was a member of the Marine Corp League Auxiliary, the VFW Post #1114 Ladies Auxiliaries and SWIRCA, and Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Greenwell enjoyed spending her time reading, crafting, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, James "JC" Greenwell in 1988 and her parents; her brothers Billy Tanner and James Tanner, infant twin sisters Ophelia Tanner and Gardenia Tanner and grandson Robert Kellen.
Surviving are sons, Mark Greenwell and wife Paula, Louis Greenwell and wife Denise, all of Evansville, IN; brothers: Ronnie Tanner of Toledo, OH andTony Tanner, Evansville; sisters: Athadine Rudell of Evansville and Belinda Hyatt of California; 5 Grandchildren: Tammy Kellen, J.P. Greenwell and wife Shari; Jason Greenwell and wife Kristi; Jordan Greenwell, all of Evansville, IN; 5 Great Grandchildren: Brianna, Dakota, Kyrsten, Lily, Jack and Gemma, nieces and nephews
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at The Good Samaritan Home for their kind, compassionate care throughout her illness over the last several years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Rosie Greenwell's Life Celebration from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 and again on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. until service time at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Reverend John Hilbert officiating. Burial will follow at St Louis Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
