96, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 in Evansville, IN. She was born September 17, 1916 in St. Louis, MO.
Jeanne graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing, St. Louis. She married Dr. E. O. Sunderman in 1937 and moved to Evansville in 1940, where Dr. Sunderman was the only orthodontist in Evansville. Jeanne was instrumental in the development of the volunteer program for St. Mary's Hospital. She was very active in the Evansville Junior League, the Pink Ladies of St. Mary's Hospital, the Evansville Museum Guild and the University of Evansville Theatre Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Eric J. Sunderman (Olivia), "Candy" Karen Shetler (Robert), Kristen Slaughter (Michael), Lisa Martin (Charles), her grandchildren; Kristen Hobbs, Milwaukee, Robert Shetler Jr., Cincinnati, Mary Jeanne Shetler, Milwaukee, Karen Ann Shetler, Steamboat Springs, CO, Matthew Slaughter, Chicago, Nicholas Slaughter, Los Angeles, Laurne Slaughter-Vaia, Los Angeles, Joseph Slaughter, Los Angeles, Cezanne Philips, Maitland FL, Erinn Sunderman, Winter Park, FL, Charles Martin III, Newburgh, Annalis Powell, Bowling Green, Dr. Katherine Nielsen, Seattle WA, and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Road, Evansville, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brentwood Golden Living Center, for the loving care given to our mother.
