Mary Katherine (Mary Kay) Fehn Baker, 90, of Newburgh, IN passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at Evansville Protestant Home. She was born April 10, 1923 in Evansville, IN.
Mary Kay was a 1940 Graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, where she earned her secretarial degree. She worked at Citizens Bank as a teller and file clerk, and then at Seeger-Sunbeam and Whirlpool as a secretary. During World War II, she took a job in the Receiving department at the Chrysler Plant that produced ammunition in support of the war effort. Shortly after her marriage to Cecil Baker, she retired to raise her family of five children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family and others before herself. She attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh for over 50 years, where she was active in the prayer groups. She was a member of the Newburgh Women's Club, volunteered at Woodland Nursing Home, and enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.
Mary Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Cecil J. Baker, parents, Remig Fehn Sr. and Carolyn (Gonsier) Fehn, and brothers Remig, Jr., Vincent, and Clarence.
She is survived by sons, Gregory Baker (Louise) of Cupertino, CA, Barry Baker (Ann) of Clearwater, FL and Kent Baker (Theresa) of Liberty Township, OH; daughters, Cheryl Harris (Michael) of Elberfeld, IN and Gwen Moore (Bob) of Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Natasha, Michelle, Scott, Lizzie Mae, Amy, Kayla, Christopher, Alexander and Matthew Baker, Serena and Britney Harris, Katherine, Bobby and Jacob Moore.
Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 am Saturday November 23, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd, Newburgh, IN 47630. Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel will be handling the arrangements.
Funeral service will begin at 10:00 am Saturday at the church.
Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
