Mary Alice (Brasel) Mangold, 89, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.
Mary was born in Evansville, Ind., on May 17, 1924, to the late Addison Paul and Ivy C. (Boyd) Brasel. Mary attended Central High School and helped build planes for the WWII effort. She enjoyed playing bingo with the senior group at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, spending time in her award winning flower garden, traveling and decorating for Christmas. She loved people and never met a stranger. Mary especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Mary was a faithful lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Linda (Albert) Spiehler, of Poseyville, Ind., Diana (Don) Lehr, Sharon (Kim) McWilliams, Judy (Larry) Sparks; sons, Robert (Nancy) and Charlie (Sue) Mangold, all of Evansville; grandchildren, Scot Mangold, Chuck (Amy) Mangold, Rick (Keri) Mangold, Yvonne (James) McCullough, DeAnna (Kevin) Bennett, Joey Woods, Jennifer (Tim) Claymier, Randy (Kara) Sparks, Jody Lehr, Kim (Cindy) McWilliams Jr., Tara (Brad) Meade-Sterchi, Melissa (Jason) King, Sean Sparks, Brad and Kyle Mangold; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward O. Mangold; by her parents; and brother, Earl Brasel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Martin Noland officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may visit from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Monday.
