Mary "Mae" (Bohonak) Williams, 86, of Newburgh, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013.
Mae was known by many when she worked at the Engelbrecht Orchard Store, Neville's IGA and Wesselman's Store bakery in Newburgh. She loved to walk daily and continued walking several miles every day into her 80s. Her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a volunteer with Newburgh American Legion Baseball for many years with her husband. She was a volunteer at Mother Teresa's Treasures in Newburgh and was recognized for her years of service. She was a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Mary Bohonak; three brothers, Michael, Nicholas and Frank Bohonak; and two sisters, Anna Wytiaz and Katherin Mallinger.
Mae is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry Williams; two daughters, Mary (Bill) Saxton, of Newburgh, and Diane (Tom) Braun, of Newburgh; son, Mark (Crystal) Williams, of Burton, Mich.; six grandchildren, Kristen Bitter, Jason Saxton, Matthew Braun, Adam Braun, Leah Braun and Olivia Williams; two great-grandchildren, Madison Hicks and Cassius Bitter.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh, officiated by Fr. Tom Kessler, with burial in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
